At the end of January 2018 Stephenson Browne acquired long established heavy weight industry name McGarrigle & Co taking over both the sales and rentals offices. Former partner at the company Andrew McGarrigle is a strong local name in Crewe and we believe that by merging the Stephenson Browne methods into the Crewe area we will grow from strength to strength. We will be re-branding as Stephenson Browne within the first couple of months and our intention is to keep all existing staff in order to aid a smooth transition.
The deal to acquire McGarrigle & Co has been a year in the making. A chance conversation between the directors of both companies quickly moved on to a potential mutually beneficial deal when Andrew McGarrigle commented that he may think of hanging up his estate agency boots in the near future. A couple more conversations later and the wheels were in motion.
Stephenson Browne has previously followed this path in 2008 when they purchased Barbour & Bailey in Sandbach but it doesn’t make the mechanics of the deal any easier.

However, we have cherry picked the new managers to take over the sales and rental offices and their previous track records speaks for themselves. I have every confidence that they will both be very successful”.
Craig Whitney joined Stephenson Browne in 2015 and took over the reins at our flagship sales office in Alsager. In the two years at this position he has grown an already strong office to outperform any previous years and leaves the office in a superb position.
Jenny Williams will be heading up the rental team and brings many years of experience with her in both letting and sales. Jenny has assisted the current lettings manager at Newcastle take our relatively new branch to exceptional levels in a short space of time growing the portfolio from nothing to over 200 managed properties.
Crewe has long been a target area for Stephenson Browne as it complements the geographical positions of the existing 3 branches in Alsager, Sandbach & Newcastle Under Lyme. Crewe has a great deal of properties and continues to expand with ample new build opportunities. HS2 will undoubtedly assist in the further growth and popularity of Crewe not to mention the positive effect it should have on long term prices. Commuters will be able to hop on a train at Crewe and get to London in under an hour. The effects that this will have not only in Crewe but the surrounding areas that we operate in will be very positive.
